Texas Delegation to Nonprofit Congress
Declaration for America's Nonprofits
Texas Acts on Nonprofit Congress
Overview
On October 16 & 17,
380 representatives from 47 states, plus international observers,
gathered in Washington, DC to focus on: (1) Identifying the values
that all nonprofits share; (2) Developing a vision and priorities
for the nonprofit sector; and (3) Exercising a collective voice.
Since 90 percent of nonprofits have annual budgets under $5 million,
the majority of participants are expected to represent these groups.
The Texas delegation comprised of
20 individuals representing a diverse array of Texas nonprofits.
Together, they returned committed to promoting the top three priorities
which emerged from the Nonprofit Congress:
- Organizational Effectiveness, with
leadership and accountability at the top of the list!!!\
- Public
Awareness and Support of the Nonprofit Sector
- Advocacy and Grassroots
Community Activiities

DECLARATION FOR AMERICA'S NONPROFITS
I Support America’s Nonprofits
Nonprofits embody the best spirit and values of our nation.
They help millions of individuals and families daily. They protect,
feed, heal, shelter, educate, and nurture our bodies
and spirits. Nonprofits also give shape to our boldest dreams, highest
ideals, and noblest causes. They turn our beliefs into action – as promoters
of democracy, champions of the common good, incubators of innovation,
laboratories of leadership, protectors of taxpayers, responders in
times of trouble, stimulators of the economy, and weavers
of community fabric.
America needs nonprofits and cannot realize
its aspirations or successfully tackle the problems it faces
without vibrant and effective nonprofits. Likewise, individual
nonprofits cannot overcome the significant challenges they face
until charitable organizations recognize their value and unite
from a position of strength.
The time has come for nonprofits of all sizes and missions
to come together to: more
